This is part of a broader celebration sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society for the Preservation of Old Mills (SPOOM). Participating in the event will be Wallace-Cross Mill, Felton; Eden Mill, Pylesville, Md; Muddy Creek Forks Roller Mills; and New Park Wind Engine. Musicians must focus on individual performances while remaining aware of and in tune with their fellow musicians and audience. Since there are so many demands, it’s not surprising that performers may develop performance anxiety, depression, frustration and even perfectionism. It’s challenging to get the music out when it’s stuck in our heads. New Freedom Borough has partnered with Northern Central Railway to welcome Smoke on the Rails BBQ Festival, a Kansas City Barbeque Society State Championship paired with a community festival in the heart of New Freedom. Backyard and Master Series teams will fill Marge Goodfellow Park during the last weekend of July and test their pitmaster skills to find out who prepares the best chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket. Steak Cookoff Association cooks and teams will also battle for the best cooked ribeye and ancillary category of anything with crab meat. York Art Association Rottler Selection Exhibition

Artists from around the region enter two of their works for this exhibition which they believe represent their whole body of work. They are vying to win a prestigious Rottler Award, and five will be chosen from the exhibition by a judge, Dorothy Frey, Assistant Professor of Painting at Millersville University. If they win, not only will they receive cash prizes, but the five winners will be included in a joint exhibition at York Art Association the following year. The awards are made possible by a gift from the former Kurt E. Rottler, who previously served both as President and Treasurer on York Art Association's board.
