Ophelia Chambliss

My name is Ophelia Chambliss and I have been working as a fine artist and independent businessperson for more than 30 years. I have recently launched a new business entity called “Ophelia’s Making Agency” which provides professional development services that serve to empower the individual to attain their desired level of success and to be sustainable as a small business. I have found that the need exists, in my many interactions, coaching, mentoring, and answering questions for small, minority, and creative businesses. I have a background in business and corporate management as an art director and VP of production services and new product development, as well as degrees in communication, as one of the most important skills a person can have, and this is an area where many artists fall short. I have also taught in higher education in graphic design, fine art, professional development, Black American studies, interpersonal and mediated communications with a teaching philosophy that is rooted in giving them tools and information that they can use. As a community activist, community historian, independent artist, I have a good reputation and am in good standing within many sectors of the community and with different levels of stakeholders. I have successfully designed and produced several community outreach projects that have been geared towards building relationships and connecting diverse communities.

Peter Danko

Visual Arts: Crafts, Functional and/or Decorative, Painting, Works on paper; woodworking, plastic, and metals

I have a small shop and make my living designing and making furniture and cabinetry. I also draw musicians and paint, mostly the figure. My life is devoted to the pursuit of beauty. My designs, like art, has content and meaning beyond simple look and style. They explore the esthetics of recycled and repurposed materials. In terms of sustainability, my designs are orders of magnitude beyond anything you would have in your home. The materials and the way they are used are unfamiliar. Don’t misunderstand, a great majority of people appreciate my designs. They congratulate me for my vision. Yet because it lacks familiarity, few people actually buy my work. The odd thing about this is my work performs as well or better functionally. My chairs are comfortable, my cabinets easer to clean. My designs are long lasting and user friendly. They are the next logical step to provide comfortable and attractive utility in a world of Billions without crashing the environment. I draw mostly musicians; very fast and free. The line work describes the energy of the music and the movement of the musicians. My drawings also capture the likeness and spirit of the musicians. I paint mostly people, portraits and the whole figure. My personal challenge is to capture the spirit of the subject in just a few hours. I love color and its magic to bring out the personality of the subject.

These works are unique manifestations of my self working to integrate thoughts and experiences. Initiated by instinct, they be come my teacher. Line, rhythm, color, contrast, and composition reminding me my first language, making sense of complex emotions, memories, and intentions. Here I am, releasing them into the world or sending them to you. – JMc 2022 Jess McPherson is a multi-disciplinary fine artist, master artisan, and arts & culture strategist, born and raised in North Hopewell Township, York County, PA, currently residing in Spring Garden Township. She is a Native of the lower Susquehanna, a Susquehanna Indian of Shawnee and Pennsylvania German descent. Jess has worked professionally as an artist since 2004 focusing on fine art and fine craft. She has been invited by communities and cultural institutions to sell her unique hand-wrapped threadwork jewelry at festivals and events from New York to North Carolina. Jess’ work has recently been recognized by the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen as master quality work with a unique and innovative voice earning her the title of Master Artisan.

Theodore Prescott

Visual Arts: Functional and/or Decorative, Mixed Media, Sculpture

I grew up outside of Boston, MA, and did my undergraduate work at Colorado College, in Colorado Springs. I got my MFA from the Rinehart School of Sculpture at MICA in Baltimore. After some years of bouncing around, I began teaching at Messiah University in Grantham PA., where I began the visual arts major. I taught at Messiah for 29 years, served as department chair for a little over a decade, and held two successive Distinguished Professorships. I’ve also taught at an American college program in Italy on several occasions. During all that time I have exhibited regularly, and completed several commissions, both public and private. I’ve also written for both academic and popular journals, and edited a book and several exhibition catalogs. My work is characterized by a love of the expressive and aesthetic potential of materials, and often draws on my experiences of the woods and mountains. I am interested in history of art, and sometimes incorporate it. I think that the “presence” of 3 dimensional imagery is both decorative and iconographic. I believe that all artistic imagery is at its core representational. I am versatile with a number of materials and processes, but have had things I can’t personally fabricate made by other craftsmen. On two large commissions I collaborated with other artists. I enjoy the process of working with clients during a commission, and developing imagery through that dialog.

Benjamin Verill

Visual Arts; Metal Artist

Just like people, every piece has its place within a sculpture. My name is Ben Verill, located in Yoe, PA. I’m a metal artist that works with scrap metal and so called “junk”. Taking everyday items and breathing life into them to create something wonderful. I’ve had years for formal welding and on the job training/experience. From the tippy tops of building to the depths of quarries. I have always admired the artistic side of welding from the start. So Roughly three years ago was when I first dipped my toes in the water on this journey. Each day pushing to create something bigger and better.
