I began my art journey through drawing and painting.  Growing up, my dad was a hobbiest photographer and always had his film camera with its dated Mickey Mouse strap.  When I reached my 20’s, and he moved to digital photography, I would follow along with him when he went on photo meet ups through various photography groups along the East Coast.  I hadn’t bothered to learn my camera but always followed along and loved that we found this space together to create art with each other.

Once I became a mother, I found my reason to learn how to use my camera.  I have kept my camera close by since.  I left my career of 20 years about a year ago to pursue photography full time.  Most of my focus is around family portraits, high school seniors, headshots and branding, maternity and newborns.  My favorite type of shoot though remains creative shoots where I can work with other artists.  Every time I shoot along side another artist, a creative director, a dancer, any type of creative, my work is looser and filled with much more emotion.  When shooting client work, I try to direct the families to interact in a natural way as a way of encouraging natural movement and emotion.

I still paint and draw, and love to make linoleum prints.  My art and photography both have a lot of contrast, emotion, lines, and light as the centerpiece.

Portraits and faces will forever be my favorite thing to paint and photograph.  Each person has so much beautiful art displayed for the world, through their face.
