James Tomkins

James E . Tompkins (Uncle Jim) is a visionary and assembly artist, born and raised in York, PA. His works are closely related to his hometown where he procures the materials and  upcycles them to create his one of a kind art.

James has shown at Visionary Art Museum and Handcock Solar Gallery  (Baltimore), as well as Creative York, Hive artspace, I-ron-ic, DreamWrights, The Parliament and Bond in York, PA.

During the creative process, James positions a multitude of  objects both vintage and found.

Although his art is sometimes referred to as Steampunk, James enjoys the freedom of expression rather than being restricted by labels. “I believe art should be fun while  moving people beyond their comfort zone  intellectually  and emotionally.
