June Lloyd will share the story of Yorker Anna Dill Gamble and her involvement in the women’s rights movement during the early 1900s.
The York County History Center’s December Second Saturday Lecture Series will feature the History Center’s Librarian Emerita, June Lloyd.
Drawing from the holdings of the History Center’s Library & Archives, Lloyd will focus on the little known story of Anna Dill Gamble and her extensive local work with her associates during 1914 and 1915 in the push to obtain women suffrage in Pennsylvania through an amendment to the Pennsylvania state constitution. Gamble had a major impact on the women’s rights movement and was also active in the York County community, helping to establish a local chapter of Girl Scouts of American and the Women’s Club of York.
