Rob Evans has lived and worked in the Hellam Hills of York County, PA overlooking the Susquehanna River for nearly four decades. His luminous paintings and drawings have been exhibited in museums around the globe and can be found in dozens of prominent public collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art, Library of Congress, San Francisco Art Museums and the Baltimore Museum of Art to name just a few. His work has been featured in numerous publications including the Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer, American Artist Magazine, American Arts Quarterly, and Art & Antiques and he has been interviewed on PBS television, NPR radio and the Huffington Post. As an independent curator Evans organized “Visions of the Susquehanna” a touring museum exhibition featuring Susquehanna themed masterworks by artists from the last two centuries and was invited by Governor Tom Wolf and First Lady Frances Wolf to help curate a historical survey of prominent Pennsylvania artists at the State Museum for the Wolf Inaugural Festivities in 2015. Evans will talk about his journey as an artist, discussing various aspects of his work, his studio process, and experiences forging a successful career in the art world, including curating exhibitions and navigating as a self-represented artist.
