Auditions for Flippin' Broadway, II

Presented by DreamWrights Center for Community Arts at DreamWrights Center for Community Arts, York PA

Jun 29 2017
Auditions for Flippin' Broadway, II

“Flippin’ Broadway, II” is a Broadway musical review with live accompaniment, flipped!

What is it?:  “Flippin’ Broadway, II” is a Broadway musical review with live accompaniment and singing where the participants sing songs that they would not normally have the opportunity to sing because they aren’t the right age, gender, ethnicity, etc.  For example, Carol Channing would not normally be cast to play Dorothy in “The Wiz,” and might reasonably argue that she would never get the chance to sing “Home” in such a production.  Thus, she may choose to audition with that song for “Flippin’ Broadway, II”.

Auditions are open to soloists, duets, trios or other sized groups.  All members of groups must audition at the same time.

When:  Auditions: ONE DAY ONLY – Thursday, June 29, 4:00-9:00 p.m.  Come at any time during those hours and sign in! We’ll audition you as you arrive.

Where:  DreamWrights Center for Community Arts

Who:  Open to everyone.

Why:  Benefit for DreamWrights Center for Community Arts

How:  Anyone may audition for “Flippin’ Broadway II” on the above listed dates and times; first come, first served basis.

Everyone must provide their own accompanist whether piano or otherwise.  No canned music may be used at auditions or in the performance show.

There will be three “Check-In” sessions over the months between auditions and the actual performance, where you and your accompanist will perform your song(s) for the producer each time.  The dates and times will be as follows: August 8 – 7:00 p.m., September 5 – 7:00 p.m., and October 3 – 7:00 p.m., place to be announced.  There will be a “walk-thru” on October 30 at 7:00 p.m. and a Dress Rehearsal on November 3.  Please plan accordingly if you are cast in the show, as these dates are firm.
