Botanical Watercolor Illustration Workshop at PCA&D York

Botanical illustration is the practice of observing and recording plant specimens through visual analysis. Generally, botanical illustrations are used in books or magazines along with helpful descriptions about the plants anatomy, internal structures and even microscopic distinctions to help identify and gather research around plant specimens. Although botanical illustration can be used as a tool for scientific research, they can all be appreciated as standalone works of art. In this workshop, you can paint the whole plant or more specific pieces such as the reverse sides of leaves, details of flowers, buds, and more. You’re encouraged to be creative with your painting process and be as expressive or refined as you’d like to be. We will be discussing basic color, compositions and watercolor techniques with individual guidance throughout the workshop.

NOTES: This workshop takes place at PCA&D York located at 133 S. Duke Street, York, PA 17401 on October 28 from 12:30 – 3:30 pm.
