Call For Artists

What does the York County Rail Trail mean to you as an artist?
I am looking for York artists, of different mediums, who would like to create a piece of work somewhere along the York County Heritage Rail Trail that they enjoy and would like to feature during a traveling exhibit.

Comment Date: Email your medium type and site location you would like to work from by May 1.
On May 9 we will list the artists which will take part in the project.

If you are interested taking part here is information on the project:
– Artwork needs to be created in 2018.
– One artist per/medium accepted.
– The goal is for different areas of the Rail Trail to be featured. If multiple artists want to work at the same location then they are to coordinate their projects together.
– Projects are to be completed by the end of September.
– I, Randy Flaum, will photograph each artist at their Rail Trail site with their art project when the project is complete.
– I, Randy Flaum, will create a short video interview with each artist explaining their project and why they picked the site that they did.
– Artists will own total rights to their piece but will not be paid for the project itself. When an exhibit opens the artist can decide if they would want to deliver and pick up their works at the exhibit site.
– Any sales the artist makes during an exhibit is made between the artist and the buyer. Artist keeps 100% of the sale. If an artist delivers their piece to an exhibit the venue and myself, Randy Flaum is not responsible for that piece.
– If an artist sells a piece during an exhibit the piece needs to stay through that exhibit. The artist does not need to deliver their piece to each or any of the exhibits.
– Exhibit dates and sites have not yet been confirmed but most likely will begin near the end of 2018 and into 2019. York County Parks have expressed interest in hosting an exhibit at Nixon Park.
– Since this will be a public traveling exhibit I ask that the pieces be family-friendly.
– Hopefully, there will be a decent amount of artists who express interest and commit to this project. A review panel will make the final decision who takes part.
