The Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village at Muddy Creek Forks is again hosting a Civil War Encampment, complete with soldiers drilling, loading and firing weapons, and displaying items they carried. The re-enactors will be on hand Sunday, July 18, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. with demonstrations on artillery munitions, medicine in the Civil War, and foods. Those who wish to dress in the wool jackets and learn maneuvers can be trained to respond to the Manual of Arms that the soldiers practiced daily.
Visitors can also explore the 1899 A. M. Grove General Store, mill, and grain elevator where they are welcomed by costumed docents. Hourly motorcar train rides through the scenic Muddy Creek Valley are offered at quarter after each hour at $10 for adults, $7 for children and under 3, free.
