Presented by Ma & Pa Railroad Preservation Society at Ma & Pa Railroad Village, Airville PA

Docent day training

Training of docents (historically trained volunteers) who welcome visitors to the 1915-era Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village in Muddy Creek

The Society’s annual docent training day is a great time to explore volunteer opportunities and talk with active volunteers. It will be held Saturday, April 21st, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the General Store at Muddy Creek Forks, 1258 Muddy Creek Forks Road, Airville, Pa. Newcomers and experienced docents will review basic principles of working with the public and learn about the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad, the village of Muddy Creek Forks, and how the railroad transformed the lives of our great grandparents a century ago. This fascinating history cannot be found in any book. There will also be special sessions for train operators.

In addition, a track work camp is scheduled for May 7 – 12 and an equipment work camp is tentatively set for June 25 – 30. No experience is required for either camp; however for the equipment work camp familiarity with woodworking tools may be helpful.
