Enjoy the colors of the fall aboard the York 17 on this 2 1/2 hour round trip to Hanover Junction, PA. Our narrator will talk about the town and villages along the way and the history they have. The fall is a beautiful time of the year to enjoy the York County Rail Trail. This trail was voted the number one rail trail in Pennsylvania. We are so lucky to be able to share this ride with our guests.
Josiah Gitt was a dry goods merchant from Hanover, Pennsylvania who owned a farm in York County. He, along with other farmers throughout the region suffered greatly in June 1863 as passing soldiers took animals and other supplies from the surrounding countryside. Gitt and others later sued the federal government for the damages done to their properties. Hear his stories about life during these challenging times while riding on the Northern Central Railway.
This is a steam ride.
