The York Symphony Orchestra features JOAN TOWER’s Made in America, COPLAND’s Billy the Kid: Suite and DVOŘÁK’s Cello Concerto in B Minor.
America’s storied lands and melting pot of nationalities are featured in this heritage-focused concert. Grammy-winner Joan Tower’s Made in America intersperses the patriotic classic, “America the Beautiful,” through a journey of perseverance. Looking to the Wild West, Copland’s folk ballet centers around the tale of westward migration in Billy the Kid. Dvorak combines his American experiences with longing for his native home in his lyrical and dramatic Cello Concerto in B Minor. The Cello Concerto features Mark Kosower, Principal Cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra.
