Meet Internationally Known Artist Robert Dale Williams and Learn Portrait Oil Painting

PORTRAIT OIL PAINTING – Learn with Robert Dale Williams,  recognized as a “Living Artist” by the Art Renewal Center

This workshop introduces the process of composing, blocking, and rendering portrait paintings from observation. Oil painting principles covered in this workshop include color theory, tonal development, and form resolution utilizing a traditional Baroque style “limited” palette.
Inspired by the Old Masters of painting, Robert Dale Williams sought out rigorous training in classical drawing and painting techniques at the New York Academy of Art Graduate School of Figurative Art.  Following graduation from the Academy, he furthered his studies under Odd Nerdrum in Norway.  Nerdrum is considered to be one of the greatest living classical figurative painters.

Recognized as a “Living Artist” by the Art Renewal Center, Williams was a semi-finalist in the Art Renewal Center 15th Annual International Salon.  He has authored two feature articles for International Artist Magazine, and his work has appeared in the published compilations The Nerdrum School and Kitsch: More Than Art.

A member of the Continuing Education Faculty at the New York Academy of Art, he has instructed drawing, painting, anatomy, and design courses at six art institutions and has been a guest lecturer at the Susquehanna Museum of Art and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

Featured in collections worldwide, Williams has exhibited in Pennsylvania, New York, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Norway.
