Get hands-on with our history and discover some surprising connections to the wizarding world.
Workshops are designed for the whole family to learn and create together. When registering, be sure to register all participants, children and adults, who will be completing a project. We encourage everyone to participate!
Learn about the potions early Yorkers concocted at home, and make a potion to take home with you!
Early Yorkers grew their food in the kitchen garden, but also found remedies for their illnesses, injuries, and pains in plants they grew in their garden and ingredients found around the home or in the wild. Learn about some of these remedies, find some ingredients in the garden, and create your own lip salve from natural ingredients.
A member of the Mason-Dixon Unit of the Herb Society of America will facilitate the workshop. The Mason Dixon Unit plants and maintains the kitchen garden at the Colonial Complex. Their mission is to promote the knowledge, use, and delight of herbs through educational programs, research, and sharing the experience of its members with the community.
