Opening Reception: Wednesday, September 19, 6-8pm
You are cordially invited to the opening reception for the Plein Air Picnic exhibit at The York Water Company, hosted by Creative York. This group exhibit features artworks by 19 artists created during Creative York’s annual Plein Air Picnic event at Lake Redman last month.
Participants were invited to paint in the fresh air at picturesque Lake Redman – one of the places “that good York water” comes from! These artists spent a lovely day creating outdoor scenes at the lake, and now that artwork will be displayed for the public at The York Water Company’s beautiful corporate building in historic downtown York, with an opening reception September 19th, from 6-8pm. Awards totaling $500 will be announced at the reception.
“Plein air” is a phrase borrowed from the French. It means “open air” and is used to describe the act of creating artwork (usually painting) outdoors, creating from observation of the surrounding scenery.
