Meet author Lindsay Barrett George and animals from ZooAmerica at this event geared to get children excited about reading.
Children’s author and illustrator Lindsay Barrett George is this year’s featured author for Reading Rainbow; an annual event celebrating reading and children’s books.
Everything kicks off when George takes the stage at 11 a.m. to share stories with the audience. She will be followed by ZooAmerica at 11:30 a.m., and the announcement of the GO York! grand prize winners at 12:15 p.m. Storytimes and literacy-based activities will continue through the afternoon. In addition, a variety of books written and illustrated by George will be available for purchase and autograph that day.
Reading Rainbow is one of the York County Libraries’ community outreach events geared to getting children excited about books. Youth services staff at all 13 library locations around the county offer free programs year-round help children acquire the literacy skills they’ll need to enter Kindergarten. This year’s Reading Rainbow event is made possible thanks to the York College Department of Education, The School District of the City of York-Family Literacy Program, South Central Reading Council, and theNorthern York County School District.
York College of Pennsylvania is located at 441 Country Club Road in York. Free parking is available on campus. Directional signs to the event will be posted that day, and elevator access is available to the fifth floor program location in the Willman Business Center.
Registration is not necessary for this free, family event.
