Durance (Imprisonment) (Gouache, 1957-1977)
A once-in-a-lifetime gallery exhibition of artwork by contemporary artist, Roger Anliker.
The work of Roger Anliker occupies the visual realms of Intimacy, Myth and Mirage. His vision crystalizes the ineffable qualities of beauty using no astonishing variety and clarity. Using the deceptively simple tools of a painter-sage, he opens the curtain on a world that is more complex than comprehendible. It is a world of the true human, where the figure is cloaked in the mirror of myth. We find that all along, the figure in that mirror is us, and that Anliker was – is – mapping our unconscious.
