Honor York’s 275th anniversary by discovering its diverse historical & cultural heritage through the Second Saturday Lecture Series
Author Judy Wolfman will tell the story behind her latest book A Slave No More. In this historical fiction work, Wolfman drew upon the true story of Henry “Box” Brown, a slave who shipped himself north from Virginia to Philadelphia in a 3 ft. x 2.5 ft. x 2 ft. box. Wolfman will discuss the incredible 27 hour journey Brown endured, as well as his life as a slave and later as an abolitionist speaker in the north. Wolfman, a retired elementary teacher, has written fourteen books, nine plays, and over 200 magazine articles and short stories.
