Solace, Music of Comfort and Hope

York Youth Symphony Orchestra and York County Senior Honors Choir present Solace, Music of Comfort and Hope

York Youth Symphony Orchestra and York County Senior Honors Choir present Solace, Music of Comfort and Hope – performed by some of the brightest and best youth musicians in York County.

The program includes powerful selections including Mozart’s Kyrie from his Grand Mass in C Minor, which is widely regarded as his most elaborate choral masterpiece; How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place from Brahms’ Requiem; and the colorful contemporary piece Gloria by Randol Alan Bass.

In the second half, we will share our love of country with the selections Anthem from the musical Chess and the folk song Shenandoah. Always a favorite, Gershwin’s Fascinating Rhythm will have you smiling and tapping your toes. The show will conclude with Bernstein’s Make Our Garden Grow from the operetta Candide which expresses, “We’ll do the best we know.”

You will feel renewed and uplifted after this amazing performance. Please join us to experience the remarkable talent of our local youth.

Maestro Gregory Woodbridge conducts the York Youth Symphony Orchestra which is comprised of more than 90 musicians in grades 9 through college, representing public, private, cyber and homeschools in York County and beyond. Under his leadership, the YYSO creates a unique opportunity for elite youth musicians to learn a challenging repertoire with peers, perform in a variety of venues, and expand their perspectives.

York County Senior Honors Choir, under the direction of Randy Yoder and Michal Buchanan, is comprised of more than 100 students in grades 10, 11 and 12, representing many school districts and homeschools of York County. The choir has received accolades for its fine performances to audiences in a variety of venues each year. This unique collaboration with choral directors, private music instructors, and families from all over York County gives students the opportunity to reach out and share their talents with others who have the same love of music and level of dedication in a non-competitive environment.
