Dr. Adam Bentz

On August 30, 2020, Dr. Adam Bentz, Assistant Director of Library & Archives at the York County History Center, will present “The Daily Treasure Trove: How Digitized Local Newspapers Can Advance Genealogy and Local History Research”.  Please bring a question that you would like Adam to research using Newspapers.com.

Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, pre-reservation seating/tickets are needed for this program.  Attendance is currently limited to 20 people.  Reservations can be made by clicking the link or by contacting the front desk at 717-848-1587.
If you are unable to attend in person, this program will also be live-streamed through Facebook (publicly accessible, no Facebook account needed).
We remind our visitors of the following:

We require visitors, staff, volunteers, contractors and others to wear masks while on site.
Contact-less temperature checks will also be administered to all staff, volunteers and guests upon arrival.
We will clean and sanitize high-touch, high-traffic areas, with deep cleaning when the building is closed.  We encourage use of our sanitizing stations when necessary.
If you are feeling ill, please do not come on site.

Monthly meetings are held in the Meeting Hall of the York County History Center, at 250 East Market Street, York, Pennsylvania unless otherwise noted. The business portion of the meeting begins at 2:15 PM and the program begins at about 2:30 PM. Meetings are FREE and open to the public.

South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, Inc. (SCPGS) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization of genealogists.  Their primary geographic area of interest and coverage is Pennsylvania’s York and Adams Counties. Their purpose is to encourage and promote an interest in genealogy by collecting and preserving materials related to genealogy, encouraging the compilation and publication of family genealogies and histories, publishing materials of interest and benefit to members, holding meetings for the education of members and the public, and offering financial and volunteer support to the library at the York County History Center.

You may park behind the museum on Mason Ave near the Church or park on the street out front of the museum.
