“Stories” (November 3–15, 2023) is an art exhibit featuring photographs by first-generation and first-year students at York College. It is presented in collaboration with the Cultural Alliance of York County and photographer Carla B. Long.
First-Year Seminar class “But First, Happiness” collaborated with local photographer Carla B. Long to share their unique first-generation story in a picture.
The students were asked to make a photograph about their journey to college. Over the semester, they learned about the creative process, focusing on how to create an image that tells their story.
Being the first person from their family to attend college meant they had to pave their way, learn from their mistakes, ask questions, and keep working hard to achieve their goals. Each first-year student has a story to tell.
York College is honored to have these dedicated and resilient students as part of our college family. We hope you enjoy the show.
Support for this Arts in Education (AIE) collaboration was provided by: Cultural Alliance of York County, in regional partnership with Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, community EITC donations, and in conjunction with the York College of Pennsylvania.
