Summer Camp Open House, Tuesday, May 31
Interested students and families are invited to attend a Summer Camp Open House on Tuesday, May 31 from 5:30-7:00 PM at the Strand-Capitol. Students and Parents will have a chance to learn a short dance, play theater games and meet camp staff. At 7:00 PM, Weary Arts Group will present a performance showcase in the Capitol Theatre with students from previous camps and local youth talent.
The Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center and the Weary Arts Group are partnering to offer students ages 6 and up the chance to spend their summer on the big stage. Three two-week camp sessions will offer intensive experiences and training in acting, dance, singing, stagecraft and more. All camps are 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM and take place at the Strand-Capitol in downtown York.
2016 Summer Camp Sessions:
Fantasy and Fairy Tales: A theatrical journey into the mystical world of dragons, goblins, princesses and fools. June 20 – June 30
Shakespeare and Green Mythology: Hamlet and Hercules? Cupid and Capulet? Explore some of theater’s greatest stories and how they come alive today. July 5 – July 15
Broadway and Film, Then and Now: Step onto the sets of stage and screen, both as an actor and a director. July 18 – July 29
The cost for each two-week camp session is $300 and includes a breakfast snack and lunch. Scholarships are available thanks to generous donor gifts. Registration forms and more information are available at mystrandcapitol.org/camp or by calling 717-846- 1111.
