Come swing with us to the big band sounds of the 40s as we step inside the Market Street Canteen, where gals and guys can get away for a drink and a dance as WWII paints the backdrop for life in York County.
Watch and learn popular dance steps from the York Social Dance Studio. Then grab a partner and boogie to the sound of the Unforgettable Big Band, 16 pieces strong, playing the sounds of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and more! Enjoy a war-era cocktail, beer and wine, and sample foods of the day. Check out the Trust's artifacts from the 30s and 40s, including our newly installed exhibit featuring the life of York's WWII four-star general, Jacob L. Devers.
