‘Taking Shape: Stories Through Sculpture’ is a juried exhibition with an open call for works running now through April 8th, 2022.
ABOUT
Every sculptor has a unique way to tell a story through their chosen medium- be it stone, clay, metal, wood, textiles, or found objects; freestanding or hanging. What story do you want to share?
SUBMISSIONS
WORK MEDIA: Sculpture in any medium (suitable for hanging on a wall or freestanding)
WORK SIZE: able to get through a standard door
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Artist bio/statement
2 sculptures can be submitted (recent work from last 5 years)
Up to 4 jpgs per piece (minimum 300 ppi), different angles
Examples of how to name jpg files: FirstName-LastName-Title-View1.jpg
FirstName-LastName-Title_View2.jpg
Etc…
Links to website and/or Instagram account (optional)
IMPORTANT DATES
April 8th- Deadline to email jpgs and artist bio/statement
April 18th- Juried by Creative York Gallery Committee
April 20th- Susan Korsnick, Gallery Coordinator notifies artists of decision
May 23rd, 24th, 25th- Sculpture drop off with completed Consignment Form and Gallery Guidelines
June 2nd- Opening reception 6-8pm
June 23rd- Exhibit ends 2pm
July 25th, 26th, 27th- Pickup sculptures
SELECTION PROCESS: Juried by Creative York’s Gallery Committee. Artists will be notified via email.
ACCEPTED ARTWORK: Art must be ready to hang (if wall art). Freestanding art can set on floor or pedestals (Creative York has pedestals or contact Susan if you plan to bring your own).
PUBLICITY: Creative York’s website, social media platforms, press release, postcards, & banner. Sculptors are encouraged to share exhibit information on their social media platforms.
COMMISSION: Commission to the gallery on sales is 30% for Members, 35% for Non-Members. Our Artist Membership includes many year-round benefits such as a variety of exhibition, educational, and networking opportunities, reduced exhibit fees and commissions, no fee for submitting a proposal for The Art Lab, and a quarterly artist-focused e-newsletter.
