Two spectacular ballet performances celebrating our 20th Nutcracker Season and danced to the live music of Tchaikovsky.

Two spectacular ballet performances celebrating our 20th Nutcracker Season and danced to the timeless music of Tchaikovsky. International guest artists will share the stage with local dancers. In celebration of Midstate Ballet’s 20th Anniversary Nutcracker Ballet the Midstate Orchestra has been formed by local and regional musicians and will be led by conductor, Dr. Willis Rapp. The tale of The Nutcracker, written by E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816, has fascinated artists and audiences for many years. The Nutcracker, a holiday tradition, takes place in two acts and tells the story of a Christmas Eve in the 1800’s at the home of young Clara and her family, The Stahlbaum’s, during their holiday party. The mysterious magician, Drosselmyer, makes a surprise visit and presents Clara with a very unique Nutcracker doll. This begins the magical journey of Clara and her Nutcracker prince from an intense battle between toy soldiers and mice to the Kingdom of Snow and the Land of Sweets. The ballet will delight persons of all ages with its magic, battles, and pageantry.
