Please join us on November 16 at 3 p.m. for the first webinar in our series on Trauma-Informed and Healing Centered Communities. The series will explore the nature, prevalence and impact of trauma and adverse experience for ourselves, our families and communities; pathways towards individual and collective resilience and healing, and trauma-informed and healing centered approaches in the context of schools, long-term care and criminal justice systems.

The first webinar in the series will provide an introduction to trauma and adverse experience and will feature Julie Himler, the Director of Community Education at YWCA York; Craig Walt, the Community Health Program Manager with York City’s Bureau of Health; and Amanda Rich, Associate Professor of Human Services at York College of Pennsylvania and the Director of the Institute for Social Healing.

Specifically, we will work to address the questions:
– What is trauma?
– What are experiences and conditions we experience as individuals, families and communities that can lead to trauma
– What are ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) and other events and conditions we experience as individuals, families and communities that can lead to trauma?
– How do trauma and adverse experiences impact our lives, our families and our communities?
– How do trauma and adverse experiences impact our lives, our families and our communities?

The informational webinar will be followed by a question and answers session and discussion. Please note that this webinar may cover difficult and sensitive topics such as child abuse, community violence, intimate partner violence and sexual assault and may not be suitable for everyone. Please view and participate with care.

Registration is required in advance; please send any questions you have to Dr. Amanda Rich at arich1@ycp.edu.
