Weekly mindfulness & meditation practice

Presented by Water in the Wave Mindfulness Practice Community of York at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York, Carriage House, York PA

Weekly mindfulness & meditation practice

We engage weekly in meditation to calm and transform our own minds and we also use meditation technique for insight.

Water in the Wave Mindfulness Practice Community practices meditation and daily life mindfulness in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village. We are inclusive of all faith-based backgrounds. We engage weekly in meditation to calm and transform our own minds and we also use meditation technique for insight. We commit to the social cohesion and connectedness of members by sharing a light and healthy snack. It is our hope as we grow to engage in mindfulness for children.

Here’s what you can expect at one of our weekly practices:

You are invited to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can approach the hall with mindfulness and without hurry. This way, we all participate in the creation of our Practice Space.

Every second Sunday of the month we offer deep relaxation as part of our practice. We begin promptly at 5. Please bring a blanket, mat, or whatever will allow you to be comfortable lying on the floor for this meditation.

After deep relaxation, we gather to share a light, vegetarian snack and announcements while we “catch up” with each other. Please bring a dish or tea to share if you are able.
After our social sharing time, we move back to the Practice Space for Dharma sharing.
Dharma sharing often involves group conversation on a book or article from our tradition. We typically engage in 3-4 book discussions in year.

We are respectful of everyone’s time, so we are sure to end on time at 7pm.
