Writers’ Roundtable

Please join us for our next Writers’ Roundtable on Thursday, September 7.
Samantha L. Dorm will present about her “Paved Over Prominence” project at the September 7th York County Writers Roundtable meeting. This networking group meets at  7 p.m. at the York County History Center, 250. E. Market St., York.  Writers Roundtable is free and open to the public.

Her project features places, such as burial sites and neighborhoods of meaning in the Susquehanna Valley, paved over by parking lots, highways, big box warehouses, and strip malls.  Meant both literally and figuratively, “paving over” often has separated people from historic roots, as well as widespread awareness, human dignity and civic pride. Paved Over Prominence explores ways, such as cemetery restoration, walking tours, radar detection, storyboards and public art, to honor nearly forgotten places.
