Carol Clark Williams  was third poet laureate of York, Pennsylvania from 2007 to 2010. From the time she  was old enough to read, she has been writing poetry. In high school she first read the poems of Edna St Vincent Millay and was electrified by the fact that one can communicate their thoughts and emotions through art.  Her English teacher submitted one of Carol’s poems for publication, and Williams has been submitting to anthologies and competitions ever since. Her work has won state, local and national awards and is widely published online and in print. She is a Pushcart nominee and a rostered artist for PA’s Arts in Education Program. Beyond writing, her favorite occupation is teaching poetry workshops for high school students, adults, senior citizen centers, and support groups. She especially enjoys teaching formal poetry, which is seeing a resurgernce in popularity with editors and publishers. Poetry is her “cheap therapy” and recreation, and has brought her wonderful friends who share her interest.
