Who Is Brittany Nicole?

I was born in York, PA, and started modeling at a young age. Landing the cover of Child Magazine with my father in 1999, I was kind of “born into it”. I was signed to the Wilhelmina Models Agency and got the opportunity to model for such brands as The Bon Ton, Strawbridge & Clothier, Macy’s, and more. Upon being on set, I learned to appreciate the aspects of being behind the scenes and developed a love for the camera. I was given my first film camera in the 5th grade and started with pictures of nature, animals & food (before Instagram existed). My experience with modeling has given me an advantage in photography, as I know what it takes to get the shot and knows what will sell the product.

“You can’t shoot everyone the same. Different angles and lighting conditions compliment different body types and tones. It’s important to recognize the uniqueness in your subjects and know how to adapt to bring out the best results.”

Because I have lived in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Georgia, I had the pleasure of experiencing many different cultures which influences my work tremendously. In Atlanta, I was featured in commercials, was the face of multiple clothing brands, and was seen in music videos. I joined the US Army in 2015 and ended up deploying to the middle east in 2016. When I came back from overseas as a now veteran, I was more determined to get my degree in photography and pursue my passion. I graduated from UMBC with Honors, Cum Laude, obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in Photography with a 3.605 GPA in 2019. I moved back to York in 2021 and got the chance to be the featured artist of the month of July at The Parliament Arts Organization. The exhibit had such a great turnout, that I was asked to be an artist in residence there for the next year.

During my residency, I was able to network in The Royal Square District and Downtown York, taking photos for businesses such as The Cultural Alliance, Casta’s Cigars, and The Steakout. My work was also used for promotional uses for The Parliament with events such as King Street Jam, Parliament on the Patio, and their First Friday events. I have also had my work featured in a local magazine, The Brittany Estates, shooting the cover and feature story for “Desnudo”, a black-owned organic and natural skincare and fragrance store. I primarily gear my work towards the Fashion/Commercial industry, but I also creatively shoot weddings, events, and other genres. My latest role was as a news videographer and editor at WGAL News 8 in Lancaster, PA. There, I learned how to tell stories through video and how to get the viewer’s attention. I would push to get positive stories featured and made it my mission to have diverse community events aired as much as possible. Now, my focus is on working with other artists in the area to help with their branding and promotional content by providing professional imagery. I have also been mentoring many photographers in the area, helping them with understanding the camera settings, how lighting affects the image, and most importantly, EDITING! Upon teaching, I am inspired and motivated daily to push myself to new limits to further my work. Some of those mentees include B-Roll Benny Photography, Martian Photography, Nine Twnty Photography, and Brighten ME Photography.  Now, my focus is on working with other diverse artists in the area to help with their branding and promotional content by providing professional imagery. My goal in life is to have a school/agency where I am able to teach and train production (including acting, modeling, photography, videography, lighting, sound, makeup, costume, etc) and to be able to send those students out to castings and sets for real-life experience and jobs.
