My name is Shayla McGinnis Cordova. I was born and raised in both the Philadelphia area as well as York county.

After highschool I went to University of the Arts with the intention of spending my second year in the Animation program. Unfortunately it ended up not working out and I have spent the last 20 years in the veterinary field. I have continued to dabble with art and creating here and there including such mediums as paper mache clay, wire wrapping, and painting/drawing.

When my daughter also started showing a love of art it helped spark that creativity and helped me realize how happy I truly am when I am creating (right now my favorite is painting with acrylic and exploring painting subjects in black and white).

As of recently I would really like to thank local York gallery HIVE artspace for initially considering my art and also reigniting that artistic flame. When I first recieved an acceptance letter for their Green Show (March 2022) it helped me establish a level of creativity I didn’t know I could achieve and self confidence I have not felt in the past.

I am looking forward to working on more projects in the future and continuing to learn and explore the amazing world that art can bring.
