I started my work with film photography at York College of Pennsylvania while minoring in photography. I gravitated towards instant film when I graduated and lost access to a darkroom. Instant film was just a way for me to continue working with film at first, but has become the medium I prefer to work with. There’s an otherworldly and dreamlike quality to the imperfections of instant film that better communicates my feelings and concepts. For example, the unpredictable color shifts of expired film can affect the mood of my photos. I created a series of photos in my home city with expired instant film that shifted red/pink. The series was meant to be an idealized version of my city; I wanted to show my love for the place, and the pink/red shift made it look absolutely perfect, like everything was forever frozen in the warmest summer day. My work has been published by Impossible Magazine, Hylas, Optiko, and the Film Shooters Collective.
