Articles of Confederation Day

Articles of Confederation Day

Presented by York County History Center at Colonial Courthouse Complex

Due to it’s historical significance and delicate nature, the original copy of the first printing of the Articles of Confederation is only displayed at certain events so take advantage of seeing it while you can.

While you’re here, try your hand at quill pen writing, create your own flag that represents you or your family, and learn about techniques used to secretly pass information. For a photo op with countless captions, have your picture taken in the pillory or in the face boards out front.

Activities include:

  • Sign your name on the Articles with a quill pen
  • Learn about the different flags that have represented our nation and make one to represent you or your family
  • Explore ways messages were decoded to keep them out of the enemy’s hands
  • Discover Colonial Currency by playing a board game
  • Help guard Congress by joining the Continental Army and practice drills

Visit each station to find items for a scavenger hunt and ring the Court House bell when you’re finished.
