YWCA York's 2019 Vagina Monologues

YWCA York's 2019 Vagina Monologues

Presented by YWCA York at The Capitol Theatre at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts

JOIN US for an unforgettable girls night out at the encore production of this spellbinding play, while also changing lives in your own backyard. YWCA York’s V-Day fundraiser supports our victim services that provide resources to those effected by domestic violence, human trafficking and sexual assault. We offer FREE services and programs through ACCESS York, Still Waters (Hanover) and the Victim Assistance Center.

V-Day is a global movement to END VIOLENCE against women and girls. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers produce annual benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities. Here in York, YWCA York Junior Board coordinates a production of the monologues as part of our V-Day York campaign.

The Vagina Monologues is an Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone. The monologues introduce a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a six-year-old girl, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who “liked to look at it.”
