W1 Winter THE GOLDEN SECTION AND DYNAMIC SYMMETRY:
What is it and how do artists use it?
INSTRUCTOR: Phyllis Disher Fredericks
In this intensive three-day workshop, we will explore the historical significance of this mathematical and geometric means of achieving an ideal composition. We will discuss its relationship to nature and how that relationship affects our compositional choices. Through hands-on exercises, we will analyze historic and present-day artists’ work. The information will be demystified and made understandable and usable.
Students will design and paint their own painting based on the principles of Dynamic Symmetry. All mediums and genres are welcome. The knowledge gained from this course will make you look at and create art with a new perspective. This workshop is for intermediate to advanced artists. A supply list will be available upon registration.
