Call for Artists – Preserved Lands Jury Submissions

Call for Artists – Preserved Lands Jury Submissions

Presented by York Art Association at York Art Association

REVISED 3/16/16 ~ No jury fee required, deadline extended, commission reduced to 40%

A CALL TO ALL LANDSCAPE ARTISTS:

York Art Association and Farm & Natural Lands Trust of York County

Invite You to Enter the Exclusive…

2016 PRESERVED LANDS Exhibition

York Art Association and Farm & Natural Lands Trust will connect each artist who is juried into the show with owners of a specific preserved property in York County, Pennsylvania.  The artist will then contact the owners and visit the property to sketch, photograph or paint on site. The resulting artwork, which must have a significant degree of realism and reflect the assigned preserved land, can be completed in studio. Many styles and media are welcome. Paintings, photographs, pencil, ink, digital and other 2-dimensional works will be considered. The Preserved Lands show will open at Marketview Arts, Gallery Hall, on First Friday, December 2, 2016 in downtown York for a month long run. Cash prizes will be awarded:

This is a fundraiser for both non-profit organizations and therefore the commission will be 40%. The likelihood of sales is elevated because property owners, FNLT supporters and other art patrons will be invited to several events surrounding the opening.  The two organizations held a similar, very successful event in 2012, and this event will also be highly promoted. Those juried in will be allowed to enter two works and there is an opportunity to reflect multiple seasons at the property you are assigned.

The Juror and Judge is Ry Fryar, Assistant Professor and Coordinator for the Division of Art at York College of Pennsylvania. He has a Bachelor’s of Fine Art from the University of Minnesota and teaches drawing, painting and personal development.

To enter, please attach photographs of two landscapes you have done previously and email to landscape@yorkartassociation.org.  Your files should be named with your first initial, last name and a number (jdoe1.jpg / jdoe2.jpg). Include your name, address, email and phone number in the body of the email.

There is no fee to enter.

Alternatively, you may submit your entries on CD (be sure your name and “Preserved Lands” is written on the disc) and mail to or drop off at York Art Association  along with a note with your name, address, phone number, and email address.

Entries will be accepted from February 8 through 11:59:59pm, April 22, 2016. Those juried in to the show will be alerted by email or phone shortly after the submission deadline.

For questions, contact York Art Association at office@yorkartassociation.org   or call 717-755-0028 between 9am and 3pm. You can also email Suzanne Collins at suzanne@yorkartassociation.org.
