York College 50th Anniversary Concert

York College 50th Anniversary Concert

Presented by York College of PA at York College: DeMeester Recital Hall at Evelyn and Earle Wolf Hall

York College’s Division of Music will present a May 17 concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the College’s transition from York Junior College to York College of Pennsylvania in 1968. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in DeMeester Recital Hall, Wolf Hall, and is open to the public free of charge.

Although 2018 officially marked 50 years since the inception of York College, the heritage of the institution has a reach that extends over the last two centuries. York College music faculty will be joined by current students and alumni to celebrate the history of the College with a special anniversary concert featuring pianist Kenneth Osowski, Assistant Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Communication and the Arts; vocalist Erin Lippard, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Vocal Studies; alumni vocalist Reva Thompson; and alumni vocalist James Manjo.

The program for the evening will include selections by Mozart, Delibes, Bernstein, local composer Dominic Argento, and more, as the chronicle of York College is presented through the lens of Western musical history.
