What happens when teens have access to oil? Clay? Charcoal? Great things! Amazing works of art, says Eric Miller, a retired art teacher and officer of the Hanover Area Arts Guild, which will host the 35th Annual School Art Show in March. Eleven area middle and high schools show off their best work at the show, exhibited at the Arts Guild, 32 Carlisle St., in downtown Hanover. The work includes painting, pottery, sculpture and a variety of other work from the schools in the area. “To me, it’s amazing. Their creativity — some of their ideas, their innovation seems to have no end.” The event is held in March, which also is National Youth Art Month, a celebration that emphasizes the need for arts education and the role it plays in students’ educations. That dovetails with the Arts Guild’s education mission. A reception for the public, family and friends is planned 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at the Arts Guild gallery.
