July 4th Service and Brass Concert

July 4th Service and Brass Concert

Presented by St. John Episcopal Church at St. John Episcopal Church

On Thursday, July 4th at 10:00 AM, a Community Independence Day Service and Concert will be celebrated at St. John Episcopal Church, 140 North Beaver Street, York. The liturgy will be read from the 1789 Book of Common Prayer, as heard by our founding fathers.

York’s own First Capital Brass will present patriotic music during and following the service in tribute to those who sacrificed to establish and preserve the union.

Founded in 1755, St. John’s history predates that of the establishment of the United States. York’s Liberty Bell, which was donated to the parish by England’s Queen Caroline in 1773, was rung in Continental Square in 1776 to announce the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Now on display in St. John’s Lovelace Commons, the bell will be sounded during the service and attendees will be invited to ring it afterward.

Light refreshments will be served following the service. Parking is available in the lot immediately across Beaver Street from the church.

Please plan to join us for this special celebration!
