Join the Midstate Ballet of Greater York Dance this holiday season for a beautiful ballet danced to the timeless music of Tchaikovsky “The Nutcracker“. Professional dancers will share the stage with York’s regional pre-professional youth ballet company.
The tale of The Nutcracker, written by E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816, has fascinated artists and audiences for many years. The Nutcracker, a holiday tradition, takes place in two acts and tells the story of a Christmas Eve in the 1800’s at the home of young Clara and her family, The Stahlbaum’s, during their holiday party. The mysterious magician, Drosselmyer, makes a surprise visit and presents Clara with a very unique Nutcracker doll.
This begins the magical journey of Clara and her Nutcracker prince from an intense battle between toy soldiers and mice to the Kingdom of Snow and the Land of Sweets.
The ballet will delight persons of all ages with its magic, battles, and pageantry.
