Writers' Roundtable

Presented by York County History Center at York County Historical Society Museum

The next meeting of the Writers’ Roundtable is Thursday, December 5. Our speaker will be Ophelia Chambliss discussing the many diverse voices that comprise our county’s past. During the discussion, Chambliss will help researchers learn about available African American historical sources.
“I base a lot of my talks and work on the West African Folk Tale,” says Chambliss. “The tale of the hunt will always favor the hunter, until the Lion has his own storyteller.  Agency, and the power to tell one’s own story from one’s own point of view, is necessary for each culture to be able to be understood and acknowledged. Equally important is at one point we allow the story to begin.”
The York County Writers’ Roundtable networks writers and researchers of York County and regional history. The group meets on the first Thursday of every quarter at 7:00 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum, Library & Archives a 250 E. Market St.  This event is free and open to the public.
