ONLINE CLASS: Creative World Building and Character Design with Shelby Young

ONLINE CLASS: Creative World Building and Character Design with Shelby Young

Presented by York Art Association at York Art Association

Artfully create a wonderful world, fantasy, sci-fi, manga, present day, or any new type of art you can conjure. We will take 2 hours a week to develop and create a whole new world and characters. Maybe you have the start of the next great comic book or graphic novel? Join us!
Ages 15 and Up.
Week 1: Planning your world
Before we can start building our characters we need to know what kind of world they live in! Is it a sci-fi or fantasy world? Or is it a world similar to our own? The beauty of world building is that you have the ability to create any world and your only limitation is your imagination! For this first class we will workshop ideas on what kind of world our character will live in and we will draw a scene from the worlds we will create.
Week 2: Drawing a map

This week we will draw a map of our world! This will give us a better idea on what out world looks like from above. What kind of secrets do our worlds hold? What kind of environment’s are in your world? And where do the people live in your world?
Week 3: Making your character
This week we will be learning how to develop a main character for your world! Who is your character? What do they do? Are they good or evil? What do they do for fun? We will answer all these questions as we develop our own characters for our worlds!
Week 4: Putting your character into the world
This week we will once again draw a scene for our world but this time we will place our character in it! This is the final step in making your character come to life in the world you’ve built. What will your character be doing in their scene?
