Early American Automobile Day at Ma & Pa Railroad

Early American Automobile Day at Ma & Pa Railroad

Presented by Ma & Pa Railroad Preservation Society at Ma & Pa Railroad Village

The Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village at Muddy Creek Forks is holding their fourth annual Early American Automobile event Sunday, August 2, 1:00 – 5:00 pm. The event on the museum grounds is free and open to the public. Guided tours of the village and motorcar train excursions through the scenic Muddy Creek Valley will also be offered.

On hand will be a selection of pre-1916 cars courtesy of the Susquehanna Valley Region Chapter of the Horseless Carriage Club of America (HCCA). The goal of their participation is to recreate what the village may have looked like in the 1915 timeframe using Brass Era vehicles. The vehicles will be staged widely about the site to promote social distancing. Owners of the vehicles, some dressed in period clothing, will be there to answer questions and describe features of their particular automobiles.

This season, in addition to a motorcar train rides, visitors will take a 45-minute guided tour of the village led by costumed historical interpreters. There are four programs consisting of the guided tour and train ride Sunday at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 PM. The cost is a nominal $10 for adults and $7 for children. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, capacity is limited to 25 people on each train. Advance ticket purchase at www.MaAndPaRailroad.com is the best way to assure participation in one of the four Sunday trains. Masks will be required for the tours and train and strongly encouraged for visitors interacting with the auto exhibitors.
