Court of Valor and SafeKeepers Shrine Ceremony

Court of Valor and SafeKeepers Shrine Ceremony

Presented by Historic Prospect Hill Cemetery Heritage Foundation at Prospect Hill Cemetery (Court of Valor and SafeKeepers Shrine - USE PENNSYLVANIA AVE ENTRANCE)

UPDATE 8/23/21:  Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, relate primarily to the Delta Variant, we have decided this event WILL NOT BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  Honorees and their families may still attend the abbreviated program, which will also be broadcast live on our Facebook page (www.facebok.com/PHCHeritage) and will be posted to our website following the event.

There will be no vehicle or equipment displays on the day of the event, and again, only honorees and their families may attend.  We feel this is the best way to protect the health of our honorees, the families, our employees, and our community.  All 2021 honorees will again be honored at the 2022 Court Of Valor and SafeKeepers Shrine ceremony when we sincerely hope we will be able to return to a truly public ceremony and celebration.

After a brief respite due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event returns to Prospect Hill Cemetery on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 1:00pm.  This outdoor event is open to the public and free of charge; however, guests will be asked to comply with any COVID-19 restrictions that remain in place at the time of the ceremony.

We will have first responder and military vehicles and equipment on display before and after the ceremony. Members of various American Legion posts and the Patriot Guard Riders will provide a stunning flag line, in honor of our veterans. Dozens of York County veterans will be honored as new additions to the Court of Valor monuments. We will also honor any York County first responders who lost their lives in 2020 or 2021, by adding their name to the SafeKeepers Shrine. Hundreds of balloons will be released to remember the police, fire, EMT, and civilian lives lost on September 11, 2001. We will also celebrate President Biden’s promise to remove all troops from the Middle Eastern theatre in time for the 20th anniversary of the day that changed so many lives. The Central York Middle School Fife and Drum Corps, the Kiltie Band of York, and vocalist, Tonia Grubb will perform during the ceremony. Free snacks and refreshments will be provided.  Guest should enter via Pennsylvania Avenue. Volunteers will be available to assist with parking and tram rides to the ceremony site.  Special parking area provided for handicapped attendees adjacent to the ceremony site (ask a volunteer for a handicapped parking tag when entering).
