Inspired by the real-life Newsboy strike of 1899 in New York City and subsequent 1992 Disney film, NEWSIES!
“STRIKE!” is an all too familiar phrase with the recent strikes of the auto workers, film actors, and writers. Inspired by the real-life Newsboy strike of 1899 in New York City and subsequent 1992 Disney film, NEWSIES features a Tony Award Winning score by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman, and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots). With rousing numbers like “Seize the Day,” this Broadway family-favorite shares a timeless message perfect for the whole family.
