July’s featured art: Steph Holmes’ new painted illustration series, “Closer”
Be among the first to see a brand-new series of painted illustrations by Steph Holmes, our featured artist for July in the gallery at SMALL STAR Art House.
In Steph’s words: “This series is filled with fantasy-inspired scenes of insects, snails, dragonflies, and other beings from a micro world. This world is not so far from our own and is filled with vivid colors and characters. These paintings look through the same lens of empathy with which I view the world as well as the subtle dark feeling that comes along with that perspective.”
Steph works with many materials and styles and teaches ceramics, collage, and drawing classes at Creative York. She exhibited most recently in Creative York’s Project Space with the art installation “Specimens.” Other selected exhibitions include “Doot” at the Michael Sickler gallery in Syracuse, NY, and “Lost World, Found World,” a juried show at the DOSHI Gallery at the State Museum of Pennsylvania; her sketchbook is available for checkout at the Brooklyn Art Library’s permanent collection.
