"Peaceful Escapes" exhibit by Judy Markel

Presented by SMALL STAR Art House and YorkPAstuff at Unknown

Browse the peaceful works of Judy Markel, featured in the gallery at SMALL STAR Art House, at your own leisurely pace. Her art is available to see during all our open hours (2:30-9ish Thursdays-Sundays).

In Judy’s words: “Creating art with a feeling of tranquility and reflection is my ultimate goal. For the past 15 years, my paintings have been centered around the simple joys of nature. My beachscapes and landscapes are soothing respites for the soul. The viewer becomes absorbed in the scene, hears the sounds of nature, and enjoys a moment of solitude. I create the same calming feeling, on a larger scale, with murals and faux finishes. Entire rooms and building facades transform with colors, textures and scenes. We’re always looking for peaceful escapes, and that’s what inspires me to create art that exudes a calming feeling.”

Judy majored in Art Education at Kutztown University and opened Visual Expressions, a fine art and design service, in 1984. Her specialties include unique faux finishes, murals, fine art, and decorative home accessories, including hand-painted wall mirrors, wine glasses, and furniture. Her largest mural to date is one on the Gemmill Building, located behind the former Zarfos Furniture Store in Red Lion. Her work has won awards at the Riverwalk Art Festival, Colony Papers Show, and Lititz Outdoor Art Show.

You can also see works by 50+ other York artists and see the independent film playing in the screening room. Showtimes are 3:00, 5:30 & 7:30; tickets are $10. See the film list at www.smallstaryork.com.
