Writer, editor, designer, photographer, music lover, entrepreneur… first and foremost, Carmen Walsh is a seeker and promoter of beauty. See some of the beauty she has found by browsing her photography art, featured in the gallery at SMALL STAR Art House (open 2:30-9ish Thursdays-Sundays). 

Her subjects, often incorporating a strong sense of design, range from interesting buildings (from York City to the islands of Greece) and land and seascapes to animals with personality.  In Carmen’s words: “I hope my images bring a smile to your heart—and then you share that smile with someone else, making the world even more beautiful.“

While a master’s degree in professional writing informs her work for her Walsh Writing clients, her art is primarily self-taught. Her foray into York’s art scene started with volunteering for Creative York; she recently completed a 3-year term on the board of directors. Since 2012, Carmen has been showing and selling her photography art, including juried exhibits at Creative York and the York Art Association and the Yorkfest fine arts festival, where she earned an Award of Distinction last year. In 2014, she introduced the first of her custom apparel line, featuring her images printed on fabric. The same year, Carmen founded YorkPAstuff, which currently promotes 50+ York County makers via a stand at Central Market as well as the gallery at SMALL STAR.
