Muggles and magicians of all ages are welcome for a free film screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” at the Capitol Theatre!
Join the Cultural Alliance of York County for a night of enchantment, music, and magic in dowtnown York as the world of Harry Potter comes to life! Crafts, entertainment, costumes, and a free film screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” will make it a night to remember!
A magical crafting party at Creative York at 10 North Beaver Street kicks off the festivities from 5pm-6:30pm, where you can pay a visit to the sorting hat and try your hand at crafting spells. There you can pick up your Marauder’s Map, highlighting all the locations of magical fun, known as “Port Keys”. The first 100 magicians to visit all the port keys on their marauder’s map and get their map stamped will be given an acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchraft and Wizadry! Just bring your stamped map to the lobby of the Capitol Theater at 50 North George Street.
When you’ve finished your magical crafts, take a guided tour from Creative York through Daigon Alley (aka, Cherry Lane) and practice your spells on costumed characters and noteworthy moments from the Harry Potter films on your way to the Capitol Theatre, provided by Weary Arts Group!
At 6pm, doors will open at the Capitol for the free film screening of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” featuring Harry Potter themed refreshments for sale, Ministry of Magic photo booth, and a pre-movie live performance by the York Junior Symphony Orchestra ensemble inside the Capitol at 6:45pm. Film starts at 7pm.
